Spine Assessment Service

Helping Those with Spine-Related Disorders

The Excela Health Spine Assessment Service offers help for those suffering from a wide range of back pain and spinal disorders.  Under the direction of Richard T. Kozakiewicz, MD, board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, the Spine Assessment Service is your gateway to understanding and treating your particular medical condition of the spine or neck.

An initial comprehensive assessment will lead to a diagnosis and the development of a plan of care designed to restore you to the fullest level of activity possible.  Some conditions may require surgery, but in many cases, your condition can be treated without surgery.  A variety of nonsurgical and surgical treatments and therapies is available from a multidisciplinary team of specialists and health care professionals.

The Spine Assessment Service

In today's fast paced world, we're constantly on the move, yet without a strong spine, movement would be all but impossible.  Spinal disorders, however, are more common than we think.  It is estimated the about 80 percent of Americans will suffer from back or neck pain at some time or another.  Further, back pain is one of the greatest causes for missed work days, costing over $80 billion a year in medical, legal and lost productivity costs.

Back pain can also extend to the legs and hips.  Similarly, neck pain can radiate to the shoulders, arms and torso.  While there are many causes for back pain, neck pain and other spine-related disorders, technology and knowledge help us understand the complex nature of the spine along with ways to identify problems associated with it.
